Week 13

Sunday, March 24th

At home recovering from Pa and Gee's, watching select parts of Finding Nemo:

Monday, March 25th

We got behind on the eggs this weekend so we are making it up.

Egg #4- Contains 3 dimes to represent the 30 shekels of silver that Judas received after he betrayed Jesus.

Egg #5: contains a wooden cross (this one is really from Jerusalem) to remind us of how Jesus bore the cross for our sins.

*Levi has really taken this symbol to heart. During night-time prayers he thanks God for Jesus dying on the cross and he points out crosses now he sees everywhere. This is the whole point of doing activities like this, to tell the story of Jesus, talk about it when you get up and when you go to bed, and all the time in between.

We definitely feel like we are living in Alaska this winter.

But it's been neat to talk about Jesus being a spotless, white lamb as we go into Easter, so I'm not complaining.;)

Tuesday, March 26th

Egg #6: Contains two toothpicks, (just one cut in half) to represent the crown of thorns placed on Jesus' head.

This one made Levi sad, that Jesus had a boo-boo on his head from the thorns. I told him this was the sad part of Easter and that when there is great sadness, trust in God to make it into great gladness.

Easter is a holy week, a week for us to reflect on the sadness of sin and death, but don't forget to celebrate the gladness of victory over sin and death as well! I'm really trying to build that up for Levi.

Egg #7: contains dice to tell the sad part of the soldiers gambling over Jesus' robe

Look at this little booger walking around these days:

Wednesday, March 27th

Egg #8- a nail

Levi has really enjoyed this hands-on  approach to learning as you can tell here:

Some family fun time when Daddy gets home!

Thursday, March 28th

Egg #9- vinegar, to represent what they soldiers gave Jesus to drink as He died on the cross

Poor Levi trying to smell the vinegar with his stuffy nose!

Toys for Boys: Here's another "toy" that is great and worth the money in my opinion! TAG books! Word of advice though I learned from someone else, even if you start with the Junior Books, go ahead and get the regular TAG pen, not the TAG Junior Pen. The Junior Pen can only do Junior Books, but the regular pen can do both!

Friday, March 29th

This morning John and I gave Levi an Easter "present" to help decorate the house a bit for Easter and to explain the meaning of Good Friday to him. This is a Roman nail-shaped cross that you can hang on the wall. It was a CBD find! We found a spot for it in the kitchen for this year..

Egg #10- spices in a small ziploc bag to represent how they prepared Jesus body after He died

Levi and Si are both sick now with colds, hoping we can still make it to church for Easter. John did take Levi out for a little bit of sunshine today, just a still a little too cold for Si!

This is happening a little more these days, the boys playing together. It's so wonderful to see. It still may be in increments of 5 minutes or so, but it is a start!
Now that Si is walking Levi really has to be careful around him and it gets tough sometimes. Oh, the life of an almost 3 year old!

Saturday, March 30th

Egg #11- rock, the stone that was rolled in front of Jesus' tomb

Only 1 more egg, YAY!

We had some sunshine today! We all needed to get out of the house for a bit, so a quick drive to Lake Stephens was in order.

The boys running towards a boat.

We both look so short here.                The bridge is broke, Momma.

This pic is terrible, but we made a trip to Sam's for some garden supplies and I couldn't resist taking a pic, the boys were being so cute!
