Week 50: Advent Continued

Sunday, Dec. 8th- Saturday, Dec. 14th

Monday:

Had the morning off since I had an afternoon training so we worked on our Advent project this morning, definitely a better a time for the boys.

Day 5: Census
Scripture: Luke 2:1-7 (Read from My First Bible)
Concept: Counting, 1-2-3! (The idea of a census).

Levi really caught on to the whole census thing especially after repeating our concept phrase over and over again. To represent this we used a a cup of rice, a little food coloring and a tablespoon of hand sanitizer to make our colorful rice to represent "people".  Here the boys are squishing that up:

Then after it dried we took two marbles and decorated one as Mary and one as Joseph. The boys have absolutely loved playing with these. I opted to not hang these on the tree because they are just too much fun for them right now!

Look who else is loving Mommy's iPad!

Tuesday:

Mommy is totally enjoying her snow day today with her babies!

Started off with coloring this morning with Levi:

Then played with our census jars this morning and reviewed our story from yesterday.

Someone woke up on the wrong side of the crib this morning:

Mommy got some wrapping done this afternoon:

Day 6: Stable
Scripture: Luke 2:1-7 (Story from My First Bible)
Concept: No room in the inn.

Levi really enjoyed this story of the stable and making this one. (We stole twigs from our Thankful Tree a few weeks ago).  The boys are having great fun with all the ornaments and pieces of the nativity. Levi played with it acting it out over and over again before we went to bed for a long time. This is it, this makes all the work of getting it together worth it! I want Christmas to be real to him and for him to understand what the presents, the lights and all the get-up is about...a little baby came to save the world. We listened to "No Room in the Inn" by Donut Man and I really loved the lyrics, "no room in the inn, but there is room in my heart for Jesus"! I pray that the waiting and anticipation of Advent brings a spiritual awakening in his own heart.

Here's a few more pics:

Wednesday:

We went and watched Levi practice his Toddler Christmas Program tonight since we won't be able to be at the actual play. He didn't really the know the difference but we enjoyed it since he had been practicing at home for awhile we made it a big deal for him.

Thursday:

We are plugging along with our Advent bags.

Day 8: Baby Jesus
Scripture: The Jesus Storybook Bible Story on Baby Jesus
Concept: What was the first Christmas present?  Baby Jesus!

We made a salt dough baby Jesus. Here the boys are helping Daddy, we will paint it later.

Friday & Saturday:

Banquet for Mommy and Daddy then Christmas party with the RA's with the whole family. Busy, but we love it!
